Thriller Feedback

Cinematography:- Viewers said that it felt 'disconnected' and inquisitive. However the point of view shots created a sense of confusion.
The first person perspective did increase the sense of tension, and some even claimed that they believed that they were the character.

Editing:- Some believed that a few of the shots were too dark. However the colour seemed to work well overall. It was the view of some people that the blurry shot was a little out of place. However many viewers decided that the sequence was very professionally made. The title was also effective.

Sound:- Apparently some viewers claimed that the voice over was a good idea but could have been done"a bit better." And possibly a little less serious...
The music appeared have fitted well with the sequence aswell as the stormy effect.

Mise en Scene:- The use of the torch was seen as an effective prop which aided the mood which was created. Some viewers thought that the phone box scene should have been brighter. But we thought that is was the right brightness for the effect we wanted to give.

Overall: Many viewers believed that it was too confusing but we think that the viewers forgot that this was an opening to a thriller, so that is what we intended to do.
But most viewers thought that the music was appropriate aswell as the use of cinematography

Feedback

Use of Mise en Scene:-
The feedback we obtained on mise en scene was centered mainly about the lighting of our piece. Many people commented on the dark lighting of our scenes, aswell as the swaying tree's due to the edited lighting, asell as the motions.

Aparently there was some confusion to the torch, but this can be resolved with the addition of a voice over.

Cinematography:-
Viewers commemnted on how the opening shot was a very effective introduction.

There were positive comments on the low angle shots of trees, it seemed to have a nice effect.
Also a good variety of shots overall.

Editing:-
The transitions which were used were preffered by our viewers, especially with the flashing effect.
Also the contrasting colours were favoured too.

Sound:-
Some viewers questioned weather the use of the piano was not appropriate, but this view was not reinforced by most of the viewers who claimed that the use of music was not too heavy and still appropriate.

Genre Conventions:-
There was a comment on how there was a disjointed theme on the opening and the dark and creepy effects were used effectivly.
Also music was used well.

ROUGH CUT THRILLER

Ideas for Titles

Originally, the title of the film was Paranoia. We wanted to go with something simple, so the white text on a black screen appearance was the look we decided to go for. In the end, however, we decided that this title may have been a little too plain.

Therefore, we decided to provide a more hectic background, to provide contrast between the simple text and the images displayed.

The large scribble type image was used to display the hectic atmosphere, and overlayed half of the text.

Afterwards, we decided that the image was not the look we desired, and we also reuired a different name.

This was closer to the look wich we were after The text was more complex than originally designed, and elimminated the need for the hected imaging.

The N was purposefully cut to resemble a disconnected word, aswell as callums mind. This is also evident in the falling of the D.

This piece is currently the final design for the title. It closely resembles the last one, but with a few subtle differences.

To begin with, the second N has been included, to ensure people realise that we know how to spell Disconnected. however, there is a gap between N's in order to disconnect the word, and one N is not chromed. this shows that Callum feels seperate from others.
The other difference is that the word has a chrome effect placed onto it, in order to bring it out of the background more.

We have decided that josh's hat will be a continuing feature throughout, so we will post it here in props

The blinds will play a key role in the opening scene, as the lighting will be a focus of the scene, and will represent Josh's Solitary attitude . Lighting is also key to a thriller atmosphere, so will be key in our project.

The medicine bottle is used to show Josh is on medicaion, and will have one left, to represent that he isnt taking it

Shots preview

These are a collection of our best scenes so far, including one of our first scenes that we edited. Most of these scenes are good due to their lighting , which we should incoporate in our other scenes.
